Pre-Departure Briefing & Support

✈️
Service 04 — Pre-Departure Briefing & Support

You Got Your Visa. Now What?

Getting the visa is the achievement. But arriving in Europe unprepared is a different kind of struggle. Our Pre-Departure Briefing is a comprehensive, country-specific session that prepares you for everything — before you even pack your bags.

IJA’s founder Iban Jamal Ahmed studied at Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall, Sweden. He built this briefing from personal experience — knowing exactly what a Bangladeshi student faces when arriving in Europe for the first time.

6 Life Areas We Prepare You For

Everything You Need to Know Before You Land

Most students learn these things the hard way — after arriving. Our briefing means you learn them before you go.

🏠

Accommodation & Housing

Finding a place to live before you arrive is critical — dormitory space fills up fast. We advise you on:

  • University dormitory vs private apartment
  • How to search for rooms from Bangladesh
  • What a lease agreement looks like
  • Deposits, utilities, and tenant rights
  • Shared accommodation norms in Europe
🏦

Banking & Money Management

Managing money abroad is completely different from Bangladesh. We cover:

  • How to open a student bank account on arrival
  • Best money transfer services from Bangladesh
  • Monthly budget planning by country
  • Using cards vs cash in Europe
  • Understanding tuition payment schedules
🚌

Transport & Getting Around

Every European city has a different transport system. We prepare you for:

  • Airport to city navigation on arrival day
  • Student transport passes and discounts
  • Trams, buses, and metro systems
  • Cycling culture in European cities
  • Long-distance travel between EU countries
🏥

Health Insurance & Medical

Health insurance is mandatory for all student visa holders in Europe. We explain:

  • Which insurance your student visa requires
  • Public vs private healthcare in your country
  • How to register with a local doctor (GP)
  • Prescription medicine — what to bring from BD
  • Emergency services and how to call them
📋

Registration & Legal Steps

Every EU country requires official registration within days of arrival. We brief you on:

  • Municipality/city hall registration process
  • Residence permit application timeline
  • Student ID card from your university
  • Tax number and social security registration
  • What to do if documents are requested again
🌍

Culture, Food & Student Life

The cultural adjustment is real. We prepare you mentally and practically for:

  • Social norms, communication styles in Europe
  • Finding halal food options in your city
  • Bangladeshi community networks to connect with
  • University clubs, student associations
  • Managing homesickness and mental wellbeing

Your Pre-Departure Checklist

What to do before you board that flight

1
Confirm your visa type and travel validity dates
Check entry date, stay duration, and any conditions on your sticker visa.
2
Book your flight and send arrival details to IJA
We help you plan your arrival day and advise on the easiest routes to your university city.
3
Secure accommodation before departure
Have a confirmed address ready — many countries require it for registration within 72 hours of arrival.
4
Carry the right documents in your hand luggage
Passport, visa, offer letter, accommodation proof, health insurance, police clearance — never in checked bags.
5
Carry sufficient cash for your first week
Bank accounts take days to open. Having Euro/local currency for first-week expenses is essential.
6
Register at municipality within the required time
Most EU countries require registration within 3–8 days. Missing this deadline can affect your residence permit.

Country-Specific Tips

What’s different in each destination we serve

🇭🇺Hungary

Register at the regional immigration office within 93 days. University enrollment includes campus card access. Public transport is affordable with student ID. Budapest has a large Bangladeshi student community.

🇱🇹Lithuania

Register at the Migration Department within 10 days. Vilnius is a safe, compact city. Public transport works on a travel card. English is widely spoken in universities. Winters are very cold — plan your wardrobe accordingly.

🇪🇪Estonia

Estonia is one of the most digitally advanced countries in the world. Register for e-Residency and digital ID. Tallinn is compact and walkable. Most services are online — banking, health registration, residence permits.

🇫🇮Finland

Register at DVV (local register office). Finnish student unions (YO) give major discounts on food and transport. Winters are extreme — heavy thermal clothing is essential. Finnish culture values silence and personal space — adapt quickly.

🇲🇹Malta

Small island country — warm, safe, English-speaking. Register your arrival with Identity Malta within 30 days. Limited public transport — private cars are common. Cost of living is moderate. Great for English language immersion.
